The Gentle Family Endowed Scholar
Hometown: Springfield, Missouri
Sam just completed his junior year at Texas Christian University, in pursuit of his bachelor’s
degree in both political science and philosophy. Sam grew up in Springfield, Missouri and
graduated from Kickapoo High School where he participated in National Honor Society, Future
Business Leaders of America, as well as the football and baseball teams. At TCU, Sam is
involved with University Christian Church’s college ministry, his school’s Beta Theta Pi
fraternity chapter, One Shade Greener (an environmental organization), and the Pre-Law Society. With these groups, Sam has had the opportunity to volunteer with community gardens in the Fort Worth area, clean up local parks, and also work with the Cook Children’s hospital.
Sam is looking forward to a career in law, and plans to pursue his Juris Doctor degree after he completes his undergraduate degree following this fall semester. Sam is passionate about addressing issues surrounding economic inequality, individual liberty, and the U.S. criminal justice system. He hopes to make a practical difference with a career in legal advocacy, family law, or criminal
defense.
