Emily James graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Modern Dance, a minor in Social Work, and honors from the John V. Roach Honors College. During her time at TCU, she was active in Disciples on Campus, Chi Tau Epsilon, and the Honors College community.

Emily has gone on to pursue a Master of Science in Child Life at Texas Woman's University while working full-time. She credits the Phillips Scholar Program with teaching her how to lead with intention and care. Reflecting on her experience, Emily shared, "I've learned to lead with clarity in my values, intentionality in how I show up, and care in how I support and treat the people I'm leading." She encourages future scholars to invest fully in the relationships they build because those connections continue long after graduation.
