Daniel Mitchell 1st Year Scholar

Daniel is an incoming freshman at Texas Christian University, where he will pursue a double major in Political Science and Religion as a Chancellor Scholar. A lifelong resident of Fort Collins, Colorado, Daniel is graduating from Rocky Mountain High School in May. While in high school, Daniel served on Student Council as Co-Student Body President and was secretary of his NHS chapter. In addition to being a state finalist in both DECA and FBLA, Daniel is an accomplished competitor in Speech and Debate, serving as the team President while breaking multiple school records and competing on the national level.

Daniel is also an involved member of the Heart of the Rockies Christian Church, serving on multiple ministry teams, delivering communion and offering meditations since elementary school, and preaching throughout high school. He was a member of the Executive Council of Youth for three years and continues to sit on the Regional Board of the Central Rocky Mountain Region of the Christian Church (DOC). He has a passion for the intersection of justice and faith and has participated in the Green Chalice Justice and Creation Care Fellowship and in DHM webinars. His work with the Church has fostered his discernment to use his skills in vocational ministry with a focus on advocacy.
