Anna Whittle Graduate Scholar

Anna Whittle is an incoming first-year Master of Divinity student at Vanderbilt Divinity School and the Disciples Divinity House. She graduated summa cum laude from Hope College in 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Women’s & Gender Studies.

A fifth-generation member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Anna is under care for ordination through the Kentucky region. She is the granddaughter of two ordained Disciples ministers and draws deep inspiration from her grandmother, who was ordained in 1975. Anna grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and is especially grateful for the community of Beargrass Christian Church. During her time at Hope College, Anna was deeply involved with the HELM Fellow program, where she still interns, and with the gun violence prevention movement, serving as a leader with Students Demand Action for Gun Sense in Michigan. She also studied abroad through a global program that explored food systems, agriculture, sustainability, and justice across four continents.

Her academic and vocational path is rooted in a deep hope for the church’s role in building a more just, compassionate world. In her spare time, Anna enjoys reading, traveling, and hanging out with her cat, Percy.
