D.O.D 09/27/2006 - Robert G. Bingham, 79, of Enid, was born Aug. 6, 1927, to Guy W. Bingham and Faye Etta Miller and died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006. He lived on a farm south of Drummond until his family moved to Waukomis and later to Enid. He attended Greenwood school and Waukomis and Enid schools. He graduated from Enid High School in 1945. He attended Phillips University and the University of Oklahoma in Norman. He was drafted into the Army October 1945 and served as a cryptoanalyst in what is now Defense Intelligence Agency. He was stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton, Fort Smith, Ark., Warrenton, Va., and Washington, D.C. He received the World War II victory ribbon and was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Betty Jo Stahl Jan. 7, 1949, in Fort Smith. They made their home in the Enid area. He worked at United States Post Office 37 years, retiring in 1982. He owned multiple businesses after retirement. He was a 50-year member of 32nd degree Masons and a member of Garfield Lodge #501. He also was a member of Enid Moose Lodge and Golden Swingers dance group. Surviving are his wife Betty Jo; eight children, Belle M. Long, Bobbi J. Bingham, Gina Faye Johnson, Gwen H. Bingham, Bart Bingham, Brad R. Bingham, Lance D. Bingham and Bryce R. Bingham; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother. | |
