D.O.D 05/31/2003 - Betty (Webber) Abercrombie was born June 26, 1920, to Ira Irl Webber and Leola Faye Gensman Webber and died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Palestine, Texas. She was 83. She graduated with a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University, a master's in education from Phillips University, and a doctorate in education from OSU. She was a professor at OSU from 1970-90, assistant director of academic affairs from 1976- 87, chairwoman of the physical education department from 1984-85, coordinator of women's intercollegiate sports from 1974-76 and chairwoman of the women's division of health, physical education and recreation at Phillips University from 1951-1979. Surviving are two daughters, Doris Kay Titmas of Orange, Calif., and Mary Bray of Jewett, Texas; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gretchen McDonald of Modesto, Calif. | |
