Berry, Grant VincentBA 1950

D.O.D 07/27/2014 - Grant Vincent Berry, of Alvin, Texas was born on February 9, 1922 to the late Florence and Edward Lemon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After his fatherís death, he was adopted in marriage by the late Fount Berry.
He graduated from Mason High School in Mason, Oklahoma and served in the United States Navy as Chief Petty Officer during World War II from 1940 to 1946. During this time period he was a Chief radioman on the aircraft carrier Saratoga and participated in the battle of Iwo Jima. He graduated from Phillips University in 1950 with a B.A. degree. He served as a minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) until he was 80 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Warren Berry.
Survivors include his wife, Dorles Shannon Berry (married 72 years); his children: Nancy Berry Napier, Byron (Nancy) Berry, Frances Berry Sharp, Dennis Berry, and Lee (Christina) Berry. He died July 27, 2014.
