Buckles, Ira DwightB.S. 1978

D.O.D 02/15/2014 - Dwight Buckles was born October 13, 1934, in Oakwood, Oklahoma, to Ira Buckles and Glennace Chain. He grew up in the Oakwood community, later moving to Billings, Oklahoma, where he graduated from high school.

Dwight attended Northern Oklahoma University in Tonkawa and graduated from Phillips University with a B.S. degree in 1978.

Dwight married Barbara Kapka in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1961.

Dwight moved to Enid in 1961. He owned and operated Hockaday’s Appliance from 1972 to 1991. He worked at Andrew Real Estate and Lowes until his retirement in 2010.

Dwight was a lifetime member of Enid AMBUCS, where he served as national president from 1982-83. Dwight served on the Enid Police Commission Board.

He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Thoes and his son, Bob Buckles. He died February 15, 2014.
