Vance, Wanda (Horton)1946

D.O.D 03/14/2013 - Wanda was born April 17, 1924, to Everett & Beulah (Hoffsommer) Horton on the farm three miles north of Hillsdale, Oklahoma, where she lived until her fatherís death in 1929 and from 1946 to present.

She graduated from Enid High School class of 1942 and attended Phillips University with the class of 1946.

She was united in marriage to Joe Vance on June 3, 1944.

Wanda was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She worked as secretary to Phillips University Dean Shirley, Champlin Refinery, Hillsdale School, and was office manager for Dick Bell insurance for 16 years.

Upon retirement she became an accomplished artist and sold her watercolor paintings across Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and elsewhere. She enjoyed teaching art at home and at Hillsdale Christian School and was an active member of Hillsdale Bible Church where she served as deaconess, SS teacher, superintendent and president of Ladies Missionary Society.

Wanda had three children: two sons, Terry Lynn, and Tommy Joe and one daughter, Jane Ford Copeland. She died March 14, 2013.
