D.O.D 08/2012 - RONCEVERTE — Ken Barnett, age 90, passed away at his residence in Ronceverte. Mr. Barnett was born Aug. 6, 1918, in Weirton. Ken was a graduate of Phillips University of Enid, Okla. and Union Theological Seminary, N.Y. He was a U.S. Army Chaplain during World War II, having served in Normandy he received the Purple Heart Medal while serving at the Battle of the Bulge; he also was honored with the Bronze Star. Mr. Barnett was an Ordained Minister of the Christian Church and a self employed building contractor. Ken was a skilled jazz pianist, organist and supporter of the Arts in Greenbrier County. By the age of 14, he pursued his interest in aviation and was accomplished in both commercial and instructional Aviation. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Leist Barnett and a brother, Loyd Barnett. | |
