D.O.D 05/05/2000 - Alice Jean (Dowd) Adsit was born April 3, 1919 in Marysville, Missouri. She came to Phillips from Amarillo, Texas in 1940 and received a B.S. in 1945. She married Glyn B. Adsit June 15, 1941. After Phillips they studied at Cornell University for a year and another year at Yale. Then they served as missionaries to China from 1947 to 1949, leaving because of the take-over by the Communists. Jean taught school in Houston, Texas and Hood River, Oregon. She did substitute teaching in Bend-La Pine District of Oregon from 1972 to 1984. Jean and Glyn had two children, Tim Adsit and Janice Shellgren. She died May 5, 2000. | |
