Undergraduate students who are pursuing a Baccalaureate Degree and attending a college or university as listed in the current Yearbook & Directory of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) may apply for a Phillips University Legacy Scholarship. Annual scholarships are intended to support and enrich the educational experience and leadership capabilities of future Christian leaders. Scholarship awards may be applied to tuition, books, room and board, lab fees, and similar educational expenses incurred within the college/university.
Volunteer Service Projects
Because service to others is an important aspect of Christian leadership, the Legacy Foundation seeks to instill in each Scholar a passion for Christian service. Each year, the Scholars choose their own Volunteer Service Projects to fulfill a requirement of the program. Whether it is teacher English to children in the Dominican Republic, providing healthcare in villages in Nicaragua and Costa Rica, training other college students to assist children and their families during their stay in the hospital or planning a 5K to raise money for a worthy philanthropic organization, the Legacy Scholars are truly making a difference in the world around them!
Leadership Development Conference
A highlight of the Legacy Scholars program is the annual Leadership Development Conference. The purpose of each Conference is to provide substantial educational, personal and professional development opportunities that will enhance the growth and development of the scholarships individual, group leadership and life building skills. Scholars, alumni, former Phillips faculty, lay leaders and notable Christian leaders enjoy networking and exchanging ideas about successful leadership experiences. Team building exercises, ropes courses, small group interactions, worship services, panel presentations and reports on volunteer service projects are just a few of the exciting activities included in the program.
